We are counting down the days to the 100th day of school with only 12 days to go! We are also looking forward to having our parents visit next Thursday for Family Math Day! We have learnt some fun games and have been practising them with each other and with our 7th Grade buddies! We can't wait to play them with you!

KGC worked really hard at creating pictures of skeletons using the drawing tools of Kidpix on the computer recently. They chose different sized crayons to draw with, depending on the size and thickness of the bones. This required some risk taking and reflection. The children enjoyed choosing the colour for their backgrounds and labelled their pictures independently. To view the skeletons on the Bones Photostory, make sure to mute the slide below of the Buddies (c

lick on the speaker icon) and then press play to watch the Photostory above. You will hear the children singing one of the Hip, Hop and Healthy songs that they learnt with Mrs. Hounsell in Music class! Enjoy!
Thank you to all those parents who have co-operated and participated in the House project!
Remember the process of building the house with your child is more important than the final product. We will be taking a trip around the world of Kindergarten next week viewing all the different houses that have been sent in! Please take some photographs of different houses that you see on your travels when you are on winter break! Talk to your child about what what materials they are built from and why they are built in that way.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our end of unit evening event last week. The children were so excited to be coming to school in the dark! Thank you for your co-operation in bringing in the requested food items. We would appreciate any feedback you may have from the evening's event. We are hoping to plan more events like this throughout the year.
We have completed our first Voicethread. You may not have got a chance to see it at our evening event. If you would like to view it, please send me an email (jsparks@qf.org.qa) and I will invite you to view it. This is to

November 2, 2008 Thanks to the parents and nannies who accompanied us on the trip to Family Food Centre! We managed to find all the items on our shopping lists and were busy cooking and preparing various food dishes during the week. We were excited to find various 3-dimensional shapes in the supermarket! We found ice cream cones in the freezer, cylinders filled with chocolates, rectangular prisms in the cereal section, and spheres in the fruit and vegetable section. We made healthy sandwiches on our return, spreading butter on the bread and then cutting the sandwiches in half. We ate grapes, oranges and prepared Gingerbread cookies that we baked in our classroom. I hope you found the recipe to try at home in your child's folder.
Thanks for your participation with the Food Diaries. We have had some interesting discussions about eating a balanced diet.
Photographs from the trip will be posted soon!

KGC are looking forward to their field trip to Family Food Centre this week. Thank you to the parents who have agreed to accompany us to the supermarket. The children have decided what they would like to cook and eat and have made the shopping list. Ask your child about some of the items on the list to ensure we have a balanced diet.
We will be meeting our Grade 7 buddies again on Monday. The children are looking forward to meeting them again and to hearing some more jokes, as well as being able to read stories together. Being International Week, they will be sharing something about the country that they are from.
We are also looking forward to learning about different countries as we visit the Kindergarten teachers in the different KG classes this week. It will be a busy week!
